Year 6 Transition Days 2019

For those pupils who have been offered a place at the academy, we have arranged with their primary school for Year 6 pupils to spend two days with us on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July 2019. It is intended that these should resemble typical days at Westbourne Academy with students arriving at main reception at 8:20am for an 8.25am lesson start and staying with us until 2.50pm. There will be a session of PE on the first day, Wednesday 3 July and therefore students will need to arrive in their PE kit for the day. On day two, students will need to wear their usual primary school uniform.

Please be aware that if older siblings are walking your child home, Year 6 students will be dismissed through main reception on both days rather than the usual student exit gates.

All students will need to bring a packed lunch with them on the transition days and suitable refreshment (bottled water) on both days, particularly for the PE lesson. If your child is eligible for a Free School Meal at primary school, this will be provided here.

Please be aware the timings of the school day will be as follows:

8.10am - Student gates open

8.25am - Lesson 1 starts

9.30am - Lesson 2 starts

10.30am - Tutor Time

10.50am - Morning Break

11.10am - Lesson 3 starts

12.10pm - Lesson 4 starts

1.10pm - Lunch Time

1.50pm - Lesson 5 starts

2.50pm - End of the day

How to Purchase Uniform

At Westbourne Academy, we believe the smartness of our students adds to the academy’s prestige and encourages a positive attitude to work and learning. All students are expected to wear the correct uniform. Tutors will check their students daily in Tutor Time to ensure all students are correctly dressed and equipped for learning.

Logo’d uniform items are available to buy from Price & Buckland’s online shop. Your child will be placed in one of four Houses and they will need to purchase a school tie in their House colour. Your child will be told which House they are joining when they arrive with us on Wednesday 3 July. Younger siblings are always placed in the same House as older siblings. Full details about our uniform expectations and a link to the online shop can be found on the parents page of our website, under the uniform tab.

During summer online orders may take 3 to 4 weeks to be delivered, we strongly recommend all orders are placed during July to ensure delivery in time for the start of the school year. To assist with cost, we have negotiated free delivery on all orders placed from the 4 to 28 July 2019.

Please remember that items without a logo, such as shirts, socks and trousers are available from high street and online retail outlets. Please first check our website to ensure the style, fit and colour comply with our uniform standards and expectations.
