Absence Reporting

Student Absence

Please telephone the Attendance team on 01473 466145 before 8.10am each day, if your child is going to be absent from chool or is going to arrive late to schoo.  Please state the following:

- your child's full name

- tutor group

- the reason for absence or lateness

Please remember to call each and every day of your child's absence to keep us informed and allow us to confidently alert you if your child is not in school when they should be.

Please remember to notify the Attendance team on 01473 466145 in advance of any known, regular absences, ie medical/orthodontic appointments, which cannot be arranged outside of the school day (8.25am - 2.50pm).

You may also email us at attendance@westbourne.attrust.org.uk

We use an automatic communication system which will contact you directly if your child is marked absent from school.  It is therefore essential to let us know if your home, mobile or work’s telephone number(s) change(s).  It is also important that we hold current email addresses for contacts as this goes a long way to improving home/school communication.

Leave of Absence Requests

Requests for leaves of absence during term time can only be authorised by the Principal in exceptional circumstances. The parent/carer with whom your child usually resides must complete a Leave of Absence Request Form (students may collect these from Student Services) before any term time holidays are booked. This form should be submitted up to 14 days prior to the absence. Students will be expected to catch up with work missed on their return.
